About
Shannon Bourbonnais is a native French speaker with 25 years of experience teaching French from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 (AP French included) in leading schools in France, England, Vancouver and West Vancouver. She has a Bachelor of Education, is a certified teacher, and has completed her Masters of Education in Language and Literacy at UBC, as well as her Early Childhood Education (ECE).
Shannon was a full-time French teacher at York House School, until the birth of her twin daughters. While on leave, parents in the community approached her to run Academic Enrichment Programs, and she then continued to consult and run French programs at York House School. When her daughters were of preschool age, she searched for a French Preschool in her Dunbar area, but didn't find any; therefore, she started her own. She continues to be involved with York House School after all these years, and has run her own school for the past 15 years, which includes a full licensed French preschool, Academic Enrichment Programs and Holiday Camps. Shannon has mentored and trained French teachers, locally and internationally, giving workshops and providing training mainly through the Accelerative Integrated Methodology (AIM), but also through the lens of an Early Childhood Educator. She has published several French readers for children, and has authored French curriculum resources, used by teachers from around the world.
Shannon enjoys spending time with her family and friends and creating community with those around her.
